Summer Love: The Birds & The Bees & The Flowers...

Even though Labor Day usually marks the end of Summer, it is still Summer here at 2805.
Though very hot, it's nice compared to last year.
The flowers have thrived.

The hibiscus bloomed daily

The ferns survived

It's been a somewhat pleasant Summer, as Summers go, as long as you are in the shade

Or around the table

With the wind chimes, chiming,

The sound of water in the fountain,

The happy sound of children (my sister's grand babies) laughing and splashing in the pool

Then there are the cute critters:
Frogs,

 The birds

 And the bees,

The elusive butterfly.  I can never catch the big ones!

 Squirrels

And of course, the geckos, who sometime come indoors.

They play and they multiply. (Beware of National Geographic type picture!)

Ah, Summer love.

...Until next time, Honey

Stairwell Shelf

On my stairwell landing, I have a little hanging shelf of iron with a wooden top.  It hangs below a tall, narrow window in which a leaded glass window in a frame in hung.  Can't show you the window as it's dirty and needs to be cleaned which means someone will have to get upon a ladder.

Back to the shelf.  I changed it up a bit today by shopping the house.  I used a little framed oil I painted quite a few years ago, a stack of altered books, some greenery and a bird.

The base is a greenish-gray with a bit of black
on the edges.

Hoping everyone has a wonderful week!

Outdoor Tweeking

This Summer, I  “tweaked”  the garden set that is in the back corner of our yard, near the pool.

The set itself is vintage,  steel mesh with bouncy chairs, but hard on a bare leg.  I didn’t  buy this vintage set, it was purchased new.  Hummmm

New, bright cushions were added to match the water of the pool.  Half -price plus 15%  coupon!  Gotta love it!    The color  of the water is always rich looking as when it was refinished a couple of years ago, we had blue quartz added to the finish.

This plant has really flourished in the shade, despite the heat!

It’s a pleasant place to sit in the evenings when it’s cool.  But, that’s been a while!

Coastal Cloche

The sofa table was tweaked for
a coastal cloche.

I tucked a large conch shell  (it has a history)
under a cloche with a marble base.

And added some pearls and beads for
a little hint of sunken treasure.

Another shell and a couple of
starfish are enough to complete the look.
Of course, now I'm thinking it needs a  lot
more  pearls and beads.  I can see
more tweaks coming.

Tweak, Tweak.......
Until next time, Honey

I Brake for Garage Sales

A few days ago on my way to run some errands, I almost passed up a garage sale.  Usually I just past them by as it's too late in the day and everything has already been picked over.
It screamed at me "Brake"!!
Among a stack of odds and ends, was a pitcher.  Dark and dirty, it called my name.  I picked it up, knowing that underneath the corrosion, it was silver.   It had  pretty lines and a  real heft that I wasn't quite expecting.
"How much?" I ask.   "A dollar" was the answer.
I almost did a jig as I left, clutching a new treasure.

After some polishing, and more polishing, she is the beauty I expected her to be!

Sculpture Comparison

A  few days ago I showed you my sofa table.

I  told you about that twisted thingamajig  sculpture, mentioning how it is made, where it was from and where I purchased mine.
It was once featured at Wisteria  for around $500,  as I recalled.  I only paid a fraction
of that amount.
You can read all about it here.

Well today I saw this one at One Kings Lane :

One Kings Lane

Much to my surprise it was on sale!  $999, marked down from $2020!!
I was stunned at the price!
It is a little larger than mine, but I  really like
the character of mine much  better.
I also like the price I paid much, much better!!

I like it even more than I did before!

Which reminds me of a little story:  When I was in the retail business (I owned 3 women's specialty stores & they were a bit upscale),  a customer was admiring a pair of earrings.  She wanted them so badly and they were only $20.  So what was the problem?  She studied them for them for a while, moaned and groaned,  and then she said, "I would like them a lot better if they were $200."

Red, Gold and Silver Tabletops

More angels  winged their was in and
landed  on the sofa table.  With evergreen, berries and pine cones,  it seemed just enough.

The cocktail table was dressed in deep burgundy
velvet  topped with a silver compote, and

Filled with Christmas balls of red and gold.   Another
mercury glass bird flew in
and landed .   There are four of these
and they have been quite active, flitting from place to place watching all the activity.

Silver candlesticks,  when lit, cast a glow
around the room.

My favorite reflections always seem to be in the
French Armoire mirror.

Until next time,  Honey

Come in…I want to ask you a question.

Up Here.

What do you think?  Now tell me the Truth...

Does this make by backside look too big?
