Fall Tablescape

Momentarily last week, there were a few hints of Fall, but no more.  Where did it go?  It's Summer again with temps in the high 90s.
I'm still in a bit of a fog after a 2-day migraine, while Mr. 2805 has spent 3 days at the NHRA  drag races here this week end.

This afternoon, I put my Fall cocktail table together.  You have seen my botanicals in apothecary jars before.  Dried quince,  pomegrantes, and  ripen flowers.

Nature gives us so many pretty natural things to use.  I keep these and use them over and over for Fall.

But something was missing, a pumpkin.
I called my local WM to see if they had pumpkins in yet.  Yes, they said they had green and white ones too!  I got so excited, dropped my pajamas and took off.  Only one white one existed, but now it was mine.

I placed it on a stack of orange books which seem appropriate for this time of year.

I had  scrunched up a fringed table scarf
a few days ago when the table complained of cool nights.  That story has certainly changed.  "Take this off!  It's too hot".

Then I explained, "It's like wearing high heels.  You look pretty, even if it hurts.  Cowgirl up!"

Until next time, Honey

Primped Pumpkins

Seems that there are a lot of adorable primped
pumpkins around!  They are so cute it boggles the eyes!  No.  Sad to say.  I have not primped any pumpkins.  But, that's not going to keep me from joining in the fun. There are a few pictures laying around in my computer that I can display.

A pumpkin basket which I copied from a magazine picture last year.

A white 6-pounder was resting in the kitchen, not doing any work at all.

While yet another was enjoying some sunshine, lounging by the pool.

This bunch were really primped
 up!  No.  Sorry to say,
it is not my front porch.
It was in front of the City Hall in
Quebec City.

They are all crying to go to a party or two, so I'll probably give in.

Until next time, Honey

Fall Mantel

My Fall mantel is done, almost!  Now that I see the pictures, I'm thinking of other things to add.
Do you do that?  Constantly tweek?

I see beautiful simple mantels which appeal to me, but my fireplace mantel just screams (yes, it screams) for something else: color.

I put a bunch of eucalyptus (it smells so nice!) in a large white and brown transfer ware pitcher.

Added floral sprigs, lotus pods

Books, Candles,

 Two ribbons

And a ceramic pumpkin.  I haven't seen any gourds or pumpkins here yet.  Maybe soon, then I can tweek again.

Speaking of tweeking, I added ribbon to my armoire, shown in a previous post here.  But, I forgot to take pictures of the change.

Until next time, Honey

French Music Box Loves Fall!

A cool front dropped continuous days of l04 to a high of 89!   Saturday morning was literally like a breath of fresh air.  Although it won't last, it was a nice breather and just enough to make me pull out Fall decor.  The first thing for a makeover was the
triple-door French armoire in the living room.

The creamy magnolias of Summer have been replaced by burgundy and deep russet and faded greens for Fall.

The antique armoire houses an ageing television since it's not used very much for viewing (the main one being in the family room) and a CD player (so yesterday) along with a Bose sound system.

I call it my music box.

...Until next time, Honey

Potpourri Concoction

I make my own personal concoction of potpourri, but using larger botanicals instead of smaller pieces which we tend to think of  scented potpourri as being.

The components were purchased in bulk which I packaged and labeled myself to sell in my store and use as gifts.

The starting point is rose hips which I flavor with orange and spice essential oils.
After the fragrances meld  together, I
use 1-1/2 cups of rose hips in the bottom of each sack, and then pile the botanicals on top.

 Included are dried artichokes, pomegranates
 and quince

Red ripen flowers, cedar roses, lotus pods

Plumosem stars and protea flowers along with a few others

It's both fragrant and abundant with Fall
 color as well!

This is my starting point as it's a bit difficult to think about Fall decorating when it's 104 outside.

Until next time, Honey

Fall Mantel

It seems that I have fall’en behind in posting some of  my  Fall décor.   I tried simple, and as much as it appeals to me, it just doesn’t work on my mantle .  It seems to favor  abundance, even though we didn’t  quite reach that point.

I put a few sprigs of eucalyptus (it smells so nice)  in one of my  vintage  demijohns which was purchased in Round Top.

Added some floral sprigs,

Lotus pods,

Candles,  Ribbon

And a pale peachy colored pumpkin on top of a book.

Hope you will join us  for Potpourri Friday!
Link up begins Thursday afternoon.

Pumpkin Basket

It’s only a 5-minute arrangement, but packs a lot of punch!

A Vintage basket  previously painted red .

Two large pumpkins,

So bright, leafy garland,

And grapevine.

Now, it has to be carried back upstairs to it’s
Fall resting place.

Remember, Potpourri Friday is today!  Hope to see you there!

 Until next time, Honey

Don’t Text and Fly

This picture was emailed to me last year.  I think that it has probably made all the rounds, but just in case……..

I have no idea who to credit  this picture  to, and searched for it on Google, but was unable to locate a source.

Of course, none of you, my  friends in  the
Land of Blog
will be climbing on your brooms this Halloween!

Until next time,  Honey

Quebec City Halloween

Last October we were in Quebec City.
Your can read about and see a stroll through the old city  here.    The town hall in the square of the old city was decked  with adorable Halloween decorations.

An eerie  tree  filled with  bats and crows,

A   line hanging full  of  the witch’s clothes,

A pumpkin patch with a  big black cat,
Who  rides on the broom with the witch in her hat.

Piles of pumpkins and flowers and gourds  in baskets,

Crawling  with spiders  dressed in black furry jackets!

Watching ‘ore all were two  ghouls of some type, they were very tall, but the did not gripe

About all of the people snapping their image,
They  just stood there and smiled and  watched over the village.

If I hear any snickering about this poem these lines, they will be deleted.

Hope to see you for Potpourri Friday!

Until next time,
Honey
