The August birth flower is the gladiolus which means sincerity and symbolizes strength of character.
Love at first sight is what the hidden message of this flower was during the
Victorian era.
Glads make me giddy, especially when they were red, so how could I pass them by a few days ago when my grocery store had them priced:

ReplyDeleteI planted some new pink and yellow glads this year, and they are up, but I am not sure if they will bloom this year or not. Had no idea they were the August flower, and since my birthday is in this month, I may need to plant some more...
ReplyDeleteI haven't bought any glads yet this year. I think I'd better find a big bouquet of yellow glads for the long weekend. I love to learn about the meaning of flowers - didn't know that about glads.
ReplyDeleteSo lovely. They make such a beautiful cut flower!
ReplyDeleteThat's definitely too good of a deal to be passed up! I rarely buy flowers cuz I'm so cheap!!! I do have some faux ones but they're never as lovely as the real thing:)
ReplyDeleteI love Glads too...I planted a huge bag of Glad bulbs last Fall and they all bloomed so pretty...but sadly...no red ones!
ReplyDeleteI love glads as well! So glad they got to come home with you.
ReplyDeleteGlads are one of my favorites. My mother in law use to grow them every year and have them in every room when we'd go visit. I still love them today.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! Your glads are gorgeous. I planted a bunch of bulbs this year hoping to have fresh cut flowers, but all that came up were a bunch of leaves. boo-hoo!!
