Christmas Day Wedding Anniversary

My Great-Grandparents were Married  107 years ago on
 Christmas Day,   December 25,  1893.

Just as today, White was the popular choice for weddings; however
some brides, especially the frontier and pioneer brides, wore
dark dresses that were more practical and could be worn
after the wedding.   The dark  wedding dresses  were fashionable
for the day,  and  little alteration was needed for the Dress
to be perfect to wear again.

  19. I love this post! It's so nice that you have the photo and such a nice story. My parents' anniversary is Christmas Eve, although my mother tells this unromantic story - she wanted to make sure that he could never forget what day their anniversary was. ;)

  20. What a wonderful remembrance! I didn't know that about wedding dresses. When my aunts got out dresses to show us, we realized my grandmother's wedding dress, their mother's was peach but you couldn't see that in a black and white pictures and they actually argued that this wasn't the dress as it wasn't white. I told them to take a closer look at the details, it certainly was and we were all surprised at the color. Have a wonderful New Year.

I'm just tickled pink that you added Happy To Design to you list of blog follows! I'm also adding your delightful blog to my list! I just took a meander around your place, my friend...ohhhh my goodness...you have a fabulous home!!! I just loved getting to see it all dressed up for Christmas...it's gorgeous!
