Power Outage and Dark Clouds

Minutes after a power failure this afternoon (and this was no rolling blackout), I  became so excited.  I heard  a wind chime symphony.

The wind had blown a potpourri of crepe myrtle blooms into the pool.

Looked up and saw something I haven’t seen in maybe two months.  It was so exciting, I grabbed my camera!  Clouds!  They were dark.  It almost looked like rain.  There was even a distant rumble.

But did it rain?  Not. Even. A. Single. Drop!  We are stuck in a seemingly endless drought.

Now, back to the power outage problem.  It  happened about 4:30 in the afternoon.  After 65 days or so of temps above 100-degrees, and it was only 107-degrees today,  guess a large portion of our part of town just gave out today.
Exhausted!

I hope you will join me for
Potpourri  Friday
on September 2.

Swinging

Come sit with me for a while on the porch swing.  How ‘bout an iced tea or  lemonade.  Where should we sit while we visit?

The one suspended from heavy ropes with the fabulous tropical fabrics?   It  says  “Let’s have tropical punch.”

What's better than a porch swing overlooking the ocean?   Why two, of course!  Make them nice and wide enough  (so you don’t roll off)  for a nap.

Perhaps this one,   black perked up with bright yellow.

Crispy white accented with bright reds.

How cute is this Adirondack swing?

We could enjoy  a swing under the shade of the trees.

I’m still dreaming  in fairy-tale land.

Daydreaming in Fairy Tale Land

Since it’s to hot to do anything more strenuous than daydream or read , I’ve pulled a few more pictures from my file.

Photos are by Danish photographer Ditte Isager for Bloomingdales.

How Cool

The heat – it’s brutal!
The thermometer has been stuck at 104 since early June.  That changed last week  -  when it went up.  106, 108.
The official temp is 110, but it’s 113-degrees here  today.  More of the same tomorrow and  in the foreseeable future.
Rain – Zero chance of precipitation.

Even 6-Flags is closed in the afternoons this week.

So I’m thinking  of a cooler day.  One of water rafting on the Snake River in Idaho.

How cool

Was that?

It was

Pretty cool!

Dream Worthy

Mine?    I Wish!
I found these gorgeous, dreamy bedrooms in an online Country Living article.

 Cottage Elegance

This huge French mirror  would be spectacular used in any setting, but makes a grand headboard.   The room features a combination of patterns — toiles, stripes, florals and checks —  and are all  in shades of red, from pink to rose to deep burgundy.

Ultimate Shabby Chic

With a luxurious mix of  vintage fabrics and antiques, this room  is a Victorian fairy tale.  The only thing missing is the fairy godmother.

Feminine with an Edge

A feminine bed  with it’s lacy linens and the drippy chandy  against the  masculine  brick wall  definitely provide the yin and yang in this bedroom.

Restful Opulence

Another (can you say fabulous?)  mirror,  vintage linens and pale gray walls create a restful romantic atmosphere.

Although I remember these bedrooms from several years ago, they were fun to revisit and  bookmark,  I will be adding them to my Pinterest page.  If you need an invite, please let me know.
