Pantone, considered the global authority on color and provider of professional color standards for the design industries has announced the color of the year.
It’s Tangerine Tango, a spirited reddish
orange, intended to provide an energy boost
we need to recharge.
“Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic
and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness
and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”

This lively, juicy color is certainly a provocative attention-getter, and is especially appealing in the world of fashion.

So, how are designers using using this color in the home?
Although it is exuberant and perhaps even an optimistic color, my preference is for the color of the year chosen by Benjamin Moore…Wythe Blue, which will be covered in another post.
But today let’s talk about Tango Tangerine. How do you feel about this lively color?

I like it and have a splendid vintage 70's wool rug that is very much this shade. Does not go with one thing I own but I have kept it for some reason.
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful, happy color, but probably will stick to my neutrals and blue/green.
ReplyDeleteLoving this bright color and the mix. I really like the office space!
ReplyDeleteI have to say I love it! I don't know that I would decorate my house with it, but I'd wear it.
ReplyDeleteHi Honey,
ReplyDeleteI'm not feeling it. lol Maybe if I lived in Southern Florida. :-P

I like the color ... in someone else's home! It's cheery and fun, but I think I would tire of it quickly. I completely agree with you about Wythe Blue! Can't wait to see that post. I think I'm going to paint a bedroom in Wythe Blue. It's gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI love this color totally. My favorite color in the world is orange, but I love it more in clothing and acessores, splashes in decorating and such, would not want my walls or furniture, too much of a good thing I would tire of. But I love this color!!
ReplyDeleteThis is not my color. I just have a thing about orange/ reds. The color actually irritates me if I am around it for very long. I know its supposed to energize you, but it just doesn't work for me.
ReplyDeleteOver the past year I've taken a big interest in this color.. just love it! I did add toss pillows of Tango in my living room and bought some large kitchen bowls at Home Goods and it is the perfect punch of color to my white cottage theme.
ReplyDeleteNice post

I love that color, but not sure if I'm risky enough to use it in my home. I'm more of a neutral kind of gal.
ReplyDeleteI love the color and the different variations of tangerine tango this year! Orange in general is one of my favorite colors!

It IS a beautiful color that I just 'discovered' last year when re-doing my living room. I have a chair in that color and a few accents . . . I'm definitely going to be incorporating it into my wardrobe! Thanks for such great pics to introduce it!
ReplyDeleteI featured this color in my post, yesterday, using a tablescape and the song lyrics (Johnny Mercer) for Tangerine. I think it is one that I would choose (if I were to choose) as a small accent or in a tablescape, rather than on a wall.
ReplyDeleteI too saw the feature with Wythe Blue. That one would be my preference, over Tangerine.
Hey, Honey! I totally agree about the Wythe Blue. I have a post ready to go in the morning about these colors of the year, and it is weird that one of the colors from Farrow & Ball is almost a dead ringer for Wythe Blue!!!
ReplyDeleteI like your examples of the Tangerine Tango, though. I only found a chair from Horchow I sort of liked....

Hi Honey, it certainly gets your attention, doesn't it? Happy color.

It's a happy look at me color! I always enjoy my visits to your lovely blog. I hope you'll stop by Katherines Corner and say hello. Hugs! P.S. Did you enter the Pink poodle giveaway too
ReplyDeleteI love it on that staircase as the house is so absent of color. But I think in small dose's it's nice. I do think this color comes back every 10 yrs or more..it must be that time once again.
ReplyDeleteI like the name Tangerine Tango, but I could never pull it off myself in my home. I'm sure the talented decorating bloggers as well as professional designers will put together rooms that look amazing to showcase the color. Mine would end up looking like Halloween!

I don't know if I'd like it in large quantities, but I'm thinking about using it as an accent color in my powder room makeover. Still mulling it around in my head. It certainly is a cheerful, happy color!

It's a fun color to use in small doses!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I especially love the wall painted that tangerine color!
