Silverware Tree

A silverware tree seems perfect for the dining room.  
Using collected  vintage pieces of silver plate,

My gravy ladle,

And a small tree in an urn,

I tied the silver pieces on with strands of jute.

It is on an antique Italian pedestal games table that is in the bay window of the dining room.  

Added to the vignette,  is a vintage tea set, vintage books and

a mercury glass bird  that  momentarily flew in from 

another  room to see what was going on.

These little mercury glass Doves

Sit and watch the decorating scurry

While they shake their heads at the mess!

French Music Box Changes It’s Colors

Fall was so short and now it’s time to make changes just as the seasons change.

First up is the Armoire, or my

French Music Box.

The russets of Fall are traded for deep red poinsettias for December.

Behind the largest door is an ancient television that has been around forever and a CD player and Bose system…thus it’s an

 over sized  French Music Box.

I listen to an eclectic mix, but today it’s mostly Andrea Bocelli .

Reflections through the looking glass.

Cost: $0...These florals have been around the block a time or two.

Sadness at 2805

Dear Friends,

Your may have noticed my absence this past week, my failure to comment and reply to your mail.

The extended family at 2805   is saddened this week.

On Tuesday of last week our Mom lost consciousness and fell in a hallway of her retirement residence.   Against her wishes (she was never one to complain)  she was taken to the hospital and kept overnight for observation.  Tests were run on Wednesday.   On Thursday we received the results of her tests and the diagnosis.   She had advanced stage cancer.  

She had previously had conversations with us all, saying she had lived and long and happy life and was ready anytime the Lord chose to take her.

We think  she chose not to fight.  She was ready and anxious to meet her Savior.   She did not tarry long in the “ valley of the shadow of death”, but passed into the loving arms of Jesus in the wee hours  Monday morning.

Thanksgiving week is a significant date  as our Daddy passed away  Thanksgiving several years ago.  Dates can actually play a part of  the terminally ill, and we think this was on her mind during the four days  between the diagnosis and her death.

Her funeral service and burial  were today.  Although we are sad, we are Thankful  and grateful  that she did not suffer the 2-3 months her doctor had suggested.   We are happy that she is at  home the Lord.
