Happy Dance October

I’m doing another Happy Dance just because I’m happy.

I’ m happy because I won a wonderful gift from 

Sherry at  Back2Vintage.

It included a lovely Nippon creamer,  two glass bobeches,  a White Sewing Machine trade card, a lovely embroidered doily,  two magnets,  a piece of calligraphy,  pictures and  a friendship poem.  If you love Vintage (and who doesn’t), you owe it to yourself to pay a visit to Sherry.  She is a real sweetie!

Cloche and Cozy

With the weather a little cooler now, it was time to put out a beautiful, soft white throw I purchased at Homegoods.  It’s cozy soft and a good choice before going heavier in the winter:

 For a change on a small  round table.  I used a vintage crocheted piece, an antique book, some nice smelling sprigs of eucalyptus, and three mercury glass gourds with one under cloche.

This container garden was in a gardening magazine, but  I  don’t know which one.  The credit says it was created by VHS New York.

This is my version, created a couple of weeks ago.  It's  not  as "garden-y" as the picture above,   but  this is what I had on hand.

Dough Bowl Centerpiece

On our Round Top expedition, my sister and I were both interested in finding antique dough bowls.  I realized now that I should have taken pictures before filling it with Fall bounty.

  It has beautiful patina, wonderful wormholes and cracks, and feet on each end that are worn from use.  I always wonder about the stories behind my antique and vintage purchases. 

  

This bowl is large so perhaps it was used to make bread for the whole week.  Or maybe it belonged to a small bakery.

Raffia was used to pad the bottom of the bowl and fill the spaces between the pumpkins and gourds.

I used antler sheds and sprigs of eucalyptus.

And carefully placed three candles in glass containers.
