“Far Above Rubies”
Please meet my Grandmother. January 23 would have been here Birthday. Needless to say, she left a lifetime impression on me, and has always been my greatest Inspiration.
The best description of her can be made in
Proverbs 31:10 “….For her worth is far above rubies”
In the picture below she was probably about 5 years old.
When I Married, she gave me a lovely, delicate handkerchief of linen and lace which was made in Germany. She had a box of these that she saved to give her Granddaughters as their “Something Old” to carry when they married. As a little girl, she would indulge me when often I wanted to look at this box of handkerchiefs.
Isn’t the lace beautiful.
When she passed away, I was given the Gold Wedding Band that my Grandfather gave her when they Married. It is inscribed with his initials: EK.
Because of her, my goal is to be
an ancient woman of wisdom.
I will be joining the following parties. Please stop by and visit these Gracious Hostess and leave some Comment Love for the party guests and Hostesses. We all so Love Comments, don’t we?

What a sweet and wonderful tribute to your grandmother. I felt that way about mine. When I lost my mother much too soon, my grandmother filled in for her. I have many good memories and so do you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful post. A great tribute to your grandmother. Aren't we lucky to have had wonderful women in our lives (especially moms and grandmas).
ReplyDeleteI had a good relationship with my grandmother also and I have a couple of heirlooms from her...they will always be cherished...just like you cherish the hanky and ring!
ReplyDeleteWhat a precious gift she was to her family. I love the sweet smile. What a great thing to give you all the handkerchiefs for your wedding. I think I'll start looking for something special for my granddaughter and possibly 2 extra for the grandsons if their Brides don't get one from their families. Such a sweet post.
ReplyDeleteWonderful tribute to your Grandmother. I had a wonderful Grandmother, too. I miss her so much. She was my inspiration, as well.

That was so beautiful...I actually was here the other day and read it, and then blogger would not let me comment. I miss my Grandmother too..I have so many treasured memories though and that I am grateful for. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteAren't grandmothers wonderful? One of mine is still alive, at 101 years old. When the family decided that she could no longer live alone, and they started to divide up her belongings, I was asked if there was something special that I wanted. I said, "No." My parents didn't understand and brought me a little something - but I stopped them and explained, I don't need a thing from her home. Grandmother helped me grow in my faith like no one else ever did. What I have from her is inside my heart - nothing can replace that.
ReplyDeleteYour grandmother was beautiful! It sounds like she was one very special lady but most grandmothers are don't you think?
