Potpourri Friday #21

 Welcome of Potpourri Friday #21

Little has been done around 2805 what with headaches, sinus infections and the like.   Add in a healthy dose of Spring fever, and there you have it.  The only thing I managed to do was to introduce you to my Grandmother.  Those of us with grandmothers that inspired  us are truly
 a fortunate bunch.

Far Above Rubies

Please meet my Grandmother.   January 23 would have been here Birthday.  Needless to say, she left a lifetime impression on me, and has always been my greatest Inspiration.
The best description of her can be made in
Proverbs 31:10  “….For her worth is far above rubies”

In the picture below she was probably  about 5 years old.

When I Married, she gave me a lovely, delicate handkerchief of linen and lace which was made in Germany.  She had a box of these that she saved to give her Granddaughters as their “Something Old”   to carry  when they married.  As a little girl,  she would indulge me when often I wanted to look at this box of handkerchiefs.

Isn’t the lace beautiful.

When she passed away,   I was given the Gold Wedding Band  that my Grandfather gave her when they Married.
It is inscribed with his initials:  EK.

Because of her,  my goal is to be
an ancient woman of wisdom.

Potpourri Friday #20

It  a beautiful day in North Texas with a temp of 70-degrees.  Perhaps this will help me in shaking off a 4-5 day migraine (I’ve lost track of time).
Mr. 2805 woke me up this morning with a cup of coffee, saying  “You’ve got to get up.
 It’s party day!”

Joanna at Arcadian Lighting helped me out this week with a guest post  of Kitchen inspiration.

Fabulous Eat In Kitchens

Hi, I’m Joanna, a writer for Arcadian Lighting, the online source for all things lighting. I am fortunate to spend my days scouring the web for images of beautiful rooms and sharing them with readers like you. Thank you 2805 for letting me share here today. Eat-in kitchens offer the perfect space for family and friends to gather for daily meals or special occasions. Combining dining room and kitchen allows the chef the best of both worlds—cooking and entertaining. Below are some of my favorite eat-in spaces. From French country rooms with graceful light fixtures to high style elegant spaces , you sure to fall in love with one or all of the rooms below.

Eat In Kitchens

Formal and classic this large space is perfect for a table for eight. This is a home chef’s dream kitchen with lots of space to cook and mingle.

A stately kitchen with a table for eight is a bit smaller than the one above but still offers enough space for family activities.

An antique harvest table offers plenty of space to enjoy an elegant dinner. The kitchen with modern and classic features will surely please most any home chef.

Found objects encased in a large built-in cabinet add interest to this dine-in kitchen.

A round table offers a more intimate dining experience for all. A primitive light fixture sits above for an illuminated meal.

This cheerful kitchen is bright and fresh, perfect for tea with friends. Wouldn’t you just love cooking in this eat-in kitchen?

This elegant space may look formal at first glance, however it actually allows for a very cozy meal. The curvy wrought iron pendant light fixture is perfect for this appealing eat-in kitchen.

Slip covered chairs are perfect for a dining area as they can be easily removed and thrown in the wash periodically or after spills. This is another happy and bright space.
