Sadness at 2805

Dear Friends,

Your may have noticed my absence this past week, my failure to comment and reply to your mail.

The extended family at 2805   is saddened this week.

On Tuesday of last week our Mom lost consciousness and fell in a hallway of her retirement residence.   Against her wishes (she was never one to complain)  she was taken to the hospital and kept overnight for observation.  Tests were run on Wednesday.   On Thursday we received the results of her tests and the diagnosis.   She had advanced stage cancer.

She had previously had conversations with us all, saying she had lived and long and happy life and was ready anytime the Lord chose to take her.

We think  she chose not to fight.  She was ready and anxious to meet her Savior.   She did not tarry long in the “ valley of the shadow of death”, but passed into the loving arms of Jesus in the wee hours  Monday morning.

Thanksgiving week is a significant date  as our Daddy passed away  Thanksgiving several years ago.  Dates can actually play a part of  the terminally ill, and we think this was on her mind during the four days  between the diagnosis and her death.

Her funeral service and burial  were today.  Although we are sad, we are Thankful  and grateful  that she did not suffer the 2-3 months her doctor had suggested.   We are happy that she is at  home the Lord.

Wishing you each a very Happy Thanksgiving!
Until next time,  Honey

  16. I'm so sorry for your loss Honey, but I'm happy to hear that your mamma expressed her readiness to go be with her Lord. I lost my beautiful GM 2 yrs ago, unexpectedly, to complications after a bout with shingles. She was the woman who raised me and my best friend. I know how difficult the holidays can be with such a huge void in your heart, but our God is good and in His love he shows us grace and mercy by comforting our souls. I pray that every time you think of your mamma you see her dancing with Jesus, that's what I see my Grandma doing and it makes my heart smile every time :)

    Warm Hug,

  19. Honey, I'm so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. I lost my Mother three years ago to lung cancer and unfortunately she lingered on and suffered for almost six months. So, it is often a blessing when the suffering is short.

May you find peace during this Holiday season and blessings to you and your family.

  20. This is indeed sad and I want to send love and good vibes for your healing... loosing a Mom is painful. Amazing how our loved ones choose a time of year that is celebrated. I guess they don't want us to forget the date they passed. My bother chose Thanksgiving and my Mom chose Mothers Day.. how do we forget that?
And then there are those who live on and on, My mother-in-law celebrates her 100th b/day tomorrow..

Much love to you and your family.
Take very good care of yourself.

  48. So sorry for your loss, Honey. From personal experience with my mom, I also believe it's a blessing knowing she didn't have to suffer long and that she's gone to a better place. 57. I am so very sorry to hear about your loss.
I watched my Mom die a little bit every day for 8 weeks. She had lived for 17 years after my Dad passed but for those 17 years, all she wanted was to be with him. In the end, we admitted her to hospice and she died peacefully in her sleep. The last thing I said to her was that it was time for her to go and to finally be with my Dad again. She had been in a coma but when I whispered that in her ear, she opened her eyes and looked at me and I knew she understood. She died 2 hours later.
I understand your grief but I know your Mom is in a far better place and she is with your Dad once again!

    Many hugs,

    Debbie
