I Brake for Garage Sales

A few days ago on my way to run some errands, I almost passed up a garage sale.  Usually I just past them by as it's too late in the day and everything has already been picked over.
It screamed at me "Brake"!!
Among a stack of odds and ends, was a pitcher.  Dark and dirty, it called my name.  I picked it up, knowing that underneath the corrosion, it was silver.   It had  pretty lines and a  real heft that I wasn't quite expecting.
"How much?" I ask.   "A dollar" was the answer.
I almost did a jig as I left, clutching a new treasure.

After some polishing, and more polishing, she is the beauty I expected her to be!
Until next time, Honey

Le Mont St. Michel

July 14th is a French Holiday,  La Fete National,  or Bastille Day as it is referred to in English speaking countries.   In honor  of the holiday,  perhaps it is a good time to show you a few photos of  Le Mont St. Michel, which were taken last year.  I will not go into it's long and storied history,  but will show  just a few of the  pictures of the trek
 up to the Abbey.
The first picture is  a scan of a picture postcard. As much fun as it would have been to be in a helicopter taking this picture,
it is not mine.

Editions d'Art

Inside the walls of the Mont are rows of shops, hotels,  cafes and chapels.  It was very crowded the day we visited as it was on yet another French holiday.

There is a causeway, but some choose to hike to the Mont  through the mud  flats during the low tide.

It's a wonderful place to see!  We were fortunate to have a crisp clear (although quite nippy) day. Hoping you enjoyed
the little tour!

 Toujours, Honey

Blooming Today

The hibiscus bush is putting on quite a
show today, with several new blooms.

A favorite flower of Mr. 2805.  The blooms
of the hibiscus unfold to a brilliant flower
which quickly fades away.

Quick Change Artist

This was so easy, it's like cheating.
Changing from the patriotic red, white and blue of
a few days ago, that is.

A quick change  of pillows on the sofa,

The removal of the little flag banner from the sofa table
and the addition of
a few collected  vintage rolling pins,
 some lavender and
a large red pitcher

Made this quick change like pushing the
  "easy"  button .

Until next time, Honey

Sculpture Comparison

A  few days ago I showed you my sofa table.

I  told you about that twisted thingamajig  sculpture, mentioning how it is made, where it was from and where I purchased mine.
It was once featured at Wisteria  for around $500,  as I recalled.  I only paid a fraction
of that amount.
You can read all about it here.

Well today I saw this one at One Kings Lane :

One Kings Lane

Much to my surprise it was on sale!  $999, marked down from $2020!!
I was stunned at the price!
It is a little larger than mine, but I  really like
the character of mine much  better.
I also like the price I paid much, much better!!

I like it even more than I did before!

Which reminds me of a little story:  When I was in the retail business (I owned 3 women's specialty stores & they were a bit upscale),  a customer was admiring a pair of earrings.  She wanted them so badly and they were only $20.  So what was the problem?  She studied them for them for a while, moaned and groaned,  and then she said, "I would like them a lot better if they were $200."

Until next time, Honey

I hope you had a safe and wonderful
Independence Day!

You really welcomed me back in a big way last week, and I thank you!  We had a terrific party and you really knocked it out of the park with so many terrific entries!

A  review of my week went this way:

A macro picture taken in Funchal.  I hope you will take time to read the verse.

I reworked my sofa table to give it a bit of a Patriotic feel.

Last night hubby and I went to a fireworks show.
